Village Accepting Questions for Wednesday's Forum on Public Education

The town hall meeting will include presentations from the Village of Lemont, Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A and Lemont High School District 210.

The is still accepting questions from the public for this week's town hall meeting on public education.

The forum, which was organized by Lemont Mayor Brian Reaves, will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Lemont High School Performing Arts Center, 800 Porter St.

Reaves is hosting the event in conjunction with and . He will be joined by District 113A Superintendent Tim Ricker and Board President Lisa Wright, as well as District 210 Superintendent Sandra Doebert and Board President Beverly Marzec.

Together, they will present information on public education in Lemont, including how much it costs and how tax dollars are spent. Village officials are currently accepting questions from the public via e-mail at educationquestion@lemont.il.us.

"I know there are a lot of different stories that all of us have heard and it's difficult to know what we should believe," Reaves said at a Village Board meeting Jan. 24. "I will do my best to get the correct information and present it to the people of Lemont."

The forum will be streamed live online for those residents who are unable to attend. The link can be found on the same page as the video for the District 113A candidate forum hosted by Patch and the Lemont Junior Woman's Club.

Reaves said he hopes the meeting will help residents learn more about Lemont's education system and its importance to the village.

"We have built a great community, the task we have ahead of us is to maintain the level of excellence we have become accustomed to and to grow our community and continue to work together for the common goal of all of us," he said.
