Village, township, park district, library, fire and school officials will gather Thursday night at Village Hall to present progress reports and discuss village-wide issues.

Members of each of Lemont's taxing bodies will gather for a public meeting Thursday night to present progress reports and discuss issues of mutual concern, including the state of public education.

The village's annual intergovernmental meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Village Hall, 418 Main St. The meeting is open to the public and will include representatives from the Village of Lemont, the Lemont Park District, Lemont Township, Lemont Public Library, Lemont Fire Protection District, Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A and Lemont High School District 210.

Issues are affecting our community which the citizens of Lemont must be informed about and consider carefully. A possible state takeover of Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A is primary among these issues. To that end, the Village will host an intergovernmental meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24, at Village Hall. All of the taxing districts, including School District 113A, will make presentations and the meeting will be broadcast live on Channel 6.

I urge every resident of Lemont to view this meeting to gain an awareness of how current economic conditions can affect the services and the quality of life they now enjoy. I look forward to working with the Village Board and the other governmental bodies to educate Lemonters on the topics of concern to all of us.
