State: Lemont Resident's Candidacy for Illinois Primary Still Undecided

A ruling is expected to be made next week on an objection filed against Duane Bradley, who is challenging Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogo (R-Lemont) in the March 20 primary.

The state's electoral board will rule next week on an objection filed against Duane Bradley, a resident to the 41st Senate District of the Illinois General Assembly.

Rupert Borgsmiller, executive director of the Illinois State Board of Elections, said the electoral board met Dec. 20 to set hearing dates for all cases involving objections to nominating petitions for the March 20 primary. Among those cases was the objection against Bradley, by Homer Township Highway Commissioner Michael DeVivo.

In the objection, DeVivo claims Bradley's petition for candidacy only contains 300 signatures, Borgsmiller said. The minimum amount required is 1,000.

According to Borgsmiller, a hearing examiner has reviewed DeVivo's objection and submitted a recommendation to the state's General Counsel.

The recommendation will go before the state's electoral board during a special meeting Monday, Borgsmiller said. Until then, the case is still pending.
