Renovations to Village Hall, located at 418 Main St., were initially expected to cost approximately $1.75 million, but officials said the project is going to be about $50,000 under budget.

The building, constructed in the late 1890s, was last renovated in 1991. Although a recent assessment showed no major issues with plumbing, HVAC, roofing or overall structure, deferred maintenance could cost the village hundreds of thousands of dollars in the next three to five years, village officials said.

The current renovation plan calls for improvements to the lobby, roof, windows and exterior doors, bathrooms and conference room—creating the need for temporary office space.

Earlier this month, village officials relocated to the currently vacant , 410 McCarthy Road. Their offices are expected to remain there until all work is completed at Village Hall.

A representative from Wight and Company told the Lemont Village Board last week that the schedule is "tight," but the project is still expected to be completed by the end of November.
