Radogno, Cross Disappointed by Governor's Address

Illinois residents looking for clear direction on how the Governor plans to address the state’s tremendous financial challenges were likely disappointed by his Feb. 6 State of the State address, said Senate Republican Christine Radogno (R-Lemont) who emphasized she had hoped to hear more from Gov. Pat Quinn on how he plans to tackle the state’s number one issue: Illinois’ fiscal crisis.

Radogno joined House Republican Leader Tom Cross (R-Oswego) in the House Gallery immediately following the governor’s speech to speak with “Illinois Lawmakers” public television program.

Both legislators expressed concerns about what they perceive as Quinn’s lack of focus on some of the most prominent issues facing the state—including pension reform, revitalizing Illinois’ jobs climate and addressing the state’s ongoing budget woes.

Radogno and Cross stressed that they are ready and willing to work with their Democratic colleagues to develop solutions to the state’s problems, but emphasized Quinn’s leadership on these issues will be critical to negotiating comprehensive reform.
