Presidential Poll: As Campaigning Continues, Who's Your Pick?

After taking some theology-based shots at President Barack Obama and angering some women’s groups by denouncing birth control as “harmful,” Rick Santorum was ahead of opponent Mitt Romney in the latest daily Gallup poll this weekend.

Meanwhile, fellow GOP primary contender Ron Paul scored a small victory over Romney in the Maine county caucus, though Romney was declared the winner of the statewide polls last week by the Maine Republican Party.

And the fourth Republican primary contender, Newt Gingrich, remained in the race, campaigning in Georgia, where he accused the president of “bigotry” and “dishonesty.”

As the Illinois primary approaches, we’re once again asking readers – if the election were today, and you had the entire GOP slate to choose from, who would be your presidential pick?

Lemont Patch is polling its readers to gauge their interest in the election, the candidates and what issues are most important to them. This poll will be published each week until the end of the election season.

And at the end of the Illinois primary (March 20) and general election (Nov. 8), we hope these numbers will provide insight into how attitudes and ideologies shifted throughout what seems sure to be a cutthroat political atmosphere.
