On the Agenda: Village Board to Vote on Easement, Water Tower Improvements, Budget Changes

The Lemont Board of Trustees will meet Monday at 7 p.m. in Village Hall, 418 Main St.

The will hold its semi-monthly meeting Monday to discuss budget issues, easement agreements and improvements to the Houston Street water tower.

Among items to be discussed:

  • Trustees are expected to approve an intergovernmental agreement with for the use of a public utility easement in an upcoming water main project on Cherokee, Kip and Kim (near Oakwood School).
  • The board will consider a switch from an Appropriation System of spending authority to a Budget System. Under the Appropriation System, the operating budget that is developed is a financial guideline versus spending authority. Under a Budget System, the budget itself is passed and operates as the spending authority. According to village documents, the goal of this system is "to more effectively demonstrate and plan for anticipated revenue and expenditures."
  • Trustees will vote on whether to award the Houston Street water tower project to Am-Coat Painting, for $144,680. The bid includes the cost of cleaning, interior/exterior blasting, priming, painting and chlorinating. The bid is $40,320 under the original engineer's estimate.
  • The board is expected to pass a resolution to use Motor Fuel Tax funds for engineering costs related to the McCarthy/Walker Intersection Improvement Project. The project consists of new traffic signals and intersection channelization.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in Village Hall, 418 Main St. For more information, call 630-257-1590.
