Mayor's Drive for Charity Raises $40K for Lemont Organizations

Lemont Mayor Brian Reaves handed out checks to more than 30 organizations Monday night.

The annual Mayor's Drive for Charity again had its best year yet, raising nearly $40,000 for Lemont charities, Mayor Brian Reaves announced Monday.

Reaves holds the golf outing each year at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club, 1 Pete Dye Drive, to raise money for local service and non-profit organizations. This year's event was held April 29.

"We had a very nice day this year," Reaves said. "A lot of money was raised ... It's great to see people come out."

During the meeting, Reaves thanked Ruffled Feathers for donating its golf course for the entire day. He also extended thanks to village staff members and local organizations who assisted with the event.

"If there has been one thing that has amazed me since becoming mayor, it's the group of people that come together to help everybody in town," Reaves said.
