Lemont Resident Duane Bradley Removed from March Republican Primary Ballot

Sen. Christine Radogno (R-Lemont) will run unopposed in the 41st District after the Illinois State Board of Elections ruled that Bradley lacked enough signatures on his nominating petition.

resident Duane Bradley has been removed from the March 20 Republican primary ballot for the 41st Senate district, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections.

In a hearing held Monday morning in Chicago, the Illinois State Officers Electoral Board sustained an by Homer Township Highway Commissioner Michael DeVivo against Bradley's nominating petition, according to the state board's website.

The objection claimed Bradley had only 300 of the required 1,000 signatures before the Dec. 5 filing deadline, according to Rupert Borgsmiller, executive director of the Illinois State Board of Elections.

A hearing examiner reviewed DeVivo's objection before submitting a recommendation to the state's General Counsel, Borgsmiller said.

Bradley's candidate status on the website was changed to "removed" at 10 a.m. Monday. He did not immediately return calls for comment.

Radogno has served in the Illinois Senate since 1997, and has represented the 41st District since 2003. She is currently serving her second term as the leader of the Illinois Senate Republican Caucus.

A meeting is scheduled for Jan. 12 to certify the March primary ballot, according to the state board's website.

I hope that Mr. Bradley will run as a write-in candidate. He probably wouldn't win, but he should try to surprise Sen. Radogno, when she sees that many Republicans think that she's too liberal.

This is exactly why you need to use staples. Paper clips are just not effective fastening devices.
