Lemont Mulls Future of Gateway TIF Land

A consultant will help the Village determine the best use for the land.

Lemont officials will hire a consultant to help come up with a plan for Gateway TIF land, trustees instructed Monday.

The TIF was formed in 2009 and includes a portion of land at Route 83 and Main Street. The Village recently purchased the last section of land, and now has to figure out what to do with it.

Trustees Monday decided to seek out a government development/public finance consultant to determine the best use for the land. Once one is chosen, trustees will then have to give final approval to the contract.

Hiring a consultant could cost the village between $100,000 and $200,000.
