Lemont Library Among Early Voting Locations for April 9 Election

The Lemont Public Library, 50 E. Wend St., will serve as an early voting location through April 6.

Early voting for the April 9 election began Monday, March 25, at the Lemont Public Library, 50 E. Wend St., and several other area locations.

"While turnout is usually low for the April election, the stakes are extremely high,"  Cook County Clerk David Orr said in a statement. "The outcome of these races determines everything from education policy to local tax and infrastructure decisions. Voters should have their say at the polls."

To vote early, voters must bring a government-issued photo ID such as a passport, driver's license or military ID. Voting will be conducted on touch-screens that store every ballot style in Cook County.

There are more than 990 races on the ballot for offices ranging from park and school districts to municipal and township seats, according to Cook County Clerk David Orr.
