Budget Hearing Scheduled for Monday's Village Board Meeting

The Lemont Board of Trustees is expected to adopt the the budget for fiscal year 2012 during its regular meeting Monday.

Two hearings will be held during the Lemont Village Board meeting Monday night before trustees vote to adopt the the village's budget for fiscal year 2011-2012.

The board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in Village Hall, 418 Main St.

A public hearing will first be held to discuss the village's amended redevelopment plan and project for the downtown TIF district, according to village documents. After, a hearing will be held to discuss the village's budget.

Village administrators have been working on the 2011-2012 budget for the past four months. The budget is expected to be about $20 million, with an operating budget of just over $8 million.

The village board will also discuss Monday an ordinance amending regularions on firearms or air guns in Lemont.

Currently, the Lemont Village Code prohibits the discharge of any firearms within village limits to include air guns and BB guns. However, some local organizations, including the Cub Scouts, have asked the village to make an exception for summer camp programs that include archery and BB gun shooting.

The board is expecting to approve the ordinance.
