Woman On the Move Boxes Up Her Puppy — and Leaves It Behind: OMGPD

Body cavity searches at Midway, a family sports bar/nudie bar and a suspicious newspaper delivery this week in the annals of Chicagoland crime-n-shame.

OMGPD, a collection of Patch Chicago's weird and noteworthy crime, posts weekly.

Bark in a Box: An Elmhurst woman moving out of the country decided to box up her puppy — and leave it on a street corner because she couldn't take the pup with her. She left a note on the box asking whoever found the dog to take care of it. Well, cops found the dog, and they took care of it — and the owner. She now faces a charge of animal neglect.

Hide and Seek, Seek and Smell: A U.S. Customs dog sniffed out cocaine inside two women who flew into Midway Airport Friday after a vacation trip to Montego Bay. Customs agents said they found $36,000 in coke wrapped in condoms and stuffed into a pair of below-the-waistline body cavities. The nose knows, ladies.

Dancing for Dollars: A city council approved a liquor license for what was pitched as a "family restaurant sports bar" which actually turned out to be a nudie bar. The Assets club operated as a rogue strip club in a boarded-up Harvey building for eight months before an undercover news report got the place shut down. (No word on how many dollar bills Mark Suppelsa handed out during his undercover work.)

Slowpoke Paperman: A slow-moving Jeep at 5 a.m. caught the attention of a Lake Bluff homeowner, who found the pokey pace of the Jeep suspicious. Turns out, the driver was a newspaper deliveryman. Apparently newspaper deliveries are such a rarity nowadays they actually look like crime in progress.

Felony Flower Theft: Someone took a Weber grill and six hanging flower baskets from the employee break area of a Glenview business. Somewhere, someone now has an illegal-but-homey patio.

Sure would like to hear Glen Ellyn news instead of bad ones from other locals. Guess GE is too boring for Patch.

When a person knows they are moving out of the country, why do they get a puppy and not make an effort to find it a home before they leave? Very selfish and cruel. I hope she gets more than a slap on the wrist for being so mean.

I hope they kept her from leaving the country.

Behavior correction on this is to #1 Put HER in a taped up box and leave HER on the corner #2 Kick her out of this country ASAP - who needs idiots like this?
