Sketch Released As Police Seek Shooter in Lemont Road Rage Incident

Police are searching for a white male, between 20 and 30 years of age, who they said shot a 58-year-old Downers Grove man Monday morning on 107th Street near 104th Avenue.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office released a sketch Tuesday night of the man believed to have shot a 58-year-old motorist during an alleged road rage incident Monday in unincorporated Lemont.

Authorities said the man depicted in the sketch shot another driver in the stomach around 10:30 a.m. Monday after being cut off on 107th Street near 104th Avenue.

The victim told police he was heading east on 107th Street in a black Buick LaCrosse when he accidentally cut off a gray or silver pickup truck. The victim pulled over to apologize, and the drivers exchanged words, police said.

Within seconds, however, the situation turned violent.

According to police, the suspect exited his truck, pulled out a gun and fired one shot at the victim, who was sitting in his vehicle. The truck driver fled the scene, and the victim called 911.

Sheriff's police said paramedics from the rushed the man to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, where he remained in stable condition Tuesday night.

CBS 2 Chicago and WGN Radio reported that the victim is from Downers Grove.

Fliers were passed out in the area Tuesday afternoon as police continue to search for the suspect, whom they describe as a white male with a possible olive complexion, between 20 and 30 years of age.

Anyone with information should contact detectives at 847-635-1188.

I'm always relieved when police sketches look nothing like me, even though the worst thing I do is sometimes fall asleep on my couch after work, forgetting that I left my car parked on Main street, and get a ticket for leaving it there all night.

Story sounds very fishy. WHO would "pull over" to apologize for accidentally cutting someone off?????

Most likely, the victim pulled over to continue the argument verbally in what probably began as rude gestures seen through windows and mirrors. He probably didn't expect it to end with getting shot. At times, I have been something of a hothead myself and pulled shenanigans similar to this. I'm just lucky to have not get shot as a result of losing my temper.

I can remember waiting in line on an exit ramp for six flags one year. Somebody cut in line and the guy who got cut in front of honked at him. Well that was all it took, the fella that cut in line slammed his car into park, got out, went to the window of the guy who honked at him and started yelling and cussing at him. On the way back to his car he kicked the guy's fender in. I never did see any cops, not sure if it was called in or not. Some people just go absolutely nuts.

In this particular situation, I might pull over. I would be afraid of being run off the road and into a tree in the middle of the woods by a truck that was chasing me, or trying to run me off the road... Apologize or fight? I can tell you at 50 years old I'm not looking for a fight, and at 58 this guy probably isnt looking to fight a "20-30 year old". Maybe you young fellows think different... Now it apears that the equation is either, an ounce of lead or 2 tons of metal, either way your dead or injured.
