Police Still Searching for Motorist Who Crashed Truck into Lemont Home

Lemont police have yet to track down the man they believe fled the scene after crashing into a house near Hillview and Keepataw on Sunday.

Lemont police are still searching for the motorist into a house and fled the scene Sunday afternoon.

As of  6:30 p.m. Tuesday, police had yet to track down the man who they believe abandoned his truck after crashing into a home on Hillview Drive near Keepataw, said  Chief Kevin Shaughnessy.

There were no injuries in the accident, which occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday, according to police.

"No one was injured in the house, and from what I'm told, one of the residents was extremely lucky because they were veruck.y close to where the truck crashed," Shaughnessy told Patch on Sunday.

The motorist, who police believe is a male, will likely face charges once he is apprehended, Shaughnessy said. He declined to comment on reports that there were passengers in the vehicle.

According to Shaugnessy, the home was left with significant structural damage. Code Enforcement officials were on the scene Sunday as emergency workers extricated the truck from the side of the house.
