Police: Multiple Homes, Cars Damaged in Weekend Spree

The Lemont Police Department is offering a reward for information about incidents that occurred early Saturday on Peiffer, Walter, Acorn and Hermes streets.

Multiple incidents of criminal damage to property were reported over the weekend on several different streets, Lemont police announced Monday.

Lemont Police Cmdr. Dan Tully said "a number of incidents" were reported around 2 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Hermes, the 0-100 block of Peiffer, the 1100 block of Walter and the 1200 block of Acorn.

During the incidents, car windows were broken, mailboxes were destroyed and several homes were damaged. In one instance, a mailbox was thrown through a garage window, Lemont Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy said.

According to police, the intent was "malicious" and "went beyond kid pranks."

"No property was taken in any incident as the intent appeared to be the destruction of property," Tully said in an email.

The is offering a reward for any information that will lead to the arrest of the individuals responsible for the damage.
