Police: Lemont Man Arrested After Buying Wine for Drunk Teenage Driver

Ernestas Pocius, 24, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor after Darien police arrested an 18-year-old girl on DUI charges April 19.

Underage DUI in Darien

A 24-year-old Lemont man was arrested April 19 after admitting he bought alcohol for a teenage girl accused of drunken driving in Darien.

Jelena Bystrova, 18, of the 7800 block of Knottingham Drive in Darien, was arrested around 12:05 a.m on the 1400 block of Plainfield Road, police said. Officers said Bystrova smelled strongly of alcohol when they pulled her over in connection with driving erratically.

Bystrova’s passenger, Ernestas Pocius, 24, of the 1000 block of State Street in , said he bought her two bottles of wine, the report said.

Police said Bystrova admitted to drinking. Her blood alcohol levels were more than twice the legal limit of 0.08, according to Breathalyzer test results. Bystrova was charged with two counts of DUI, driving without a license and improper lane usage. She was given a May 14 court date.

Pocius was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and cited with allowing Bystrova to drive without a license. He was given a May 30 court date.
