Police Investigating 'Suspicious Person' Near Lemont Bus Stop

A white male in his 50s, who police say was driving a Dodge Caravan, reportedly approached a young girl Wednesday as she was walking home from a bus stop in unincorporated Lemont Township.

The Cook County Sheriff's Department is investigating a report of a "suspicious person" who approached a young girl near a bus stop Wednesday.

According to a crime alert from the sheriff's police, the girl was walking home from her school bus stop in the 13700 block of Dixon Way in unincorporated Lemont Township when a man approached her in his vehicle.

The man made contact with the girl and inquired about her jacket, according to the alert. However, the girl's mother observed the incident and called for her to come home, prompting the man to leave the area, police said.

The offender is described by police as a white male in his 50s. He was driving an older model of a Dodge Caravan that was light blue with darker paint in the rear, police said.
