UPDATED: Overnight Fire Causes Substantial Damage to Vacant Home on Archer Avenue

No injuries were reported during the incident, which occurred around 3 a.m. Friday.

No injuries were reported in a house fire that occurred overnight near the intersection of Archer Avenue and 127th Street.

The Lemont Fire Protection District responded shortly before 3 a.m. to the fire, which occurred in a vacant singly-family residence. The structure sustained substantial damage, according to Deputy Fire Chief Jay Nickleski.

"The building's interior was well-involved in fire upon arrival of the first engine companies," he said.

Nickleski said it took Lemont firefighters approximately two hours to get the fire under control. They were assisted by firefighters from Argonne, Darien-Woodridge and Homer Township.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
