No Injuries in Semi-Truck Fire on Route 83

Lemont Fire Chief Carl Churulo said a semi parked just east of Route 83 near Archer Avenue burst into flames around 6 a.m. Monday.

No injuries were reported Monday after a parked semi-truck burst into flames near Route 83 and Archer Avenue in Lemont.

The responded to the fire around 6 a.m. in a parking lot just east of Route 83, according to reports.

Lemont Fire Chief Carl Churulo said the fire created a lot of smoke and "looked a lot worse than it was." Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames, he said.

The incident is under investigation.

Lemont resident Ken Kroncke was driving north on Route 83 when he saw the fire. He captured a short video, which he shared with Patch. (View video to the right of this article.)
