No Injuries in Rolling Meadows Dryer Fire

Lemont firefighters responded Wednesday night to a house fire in the 16500 block of Pasture Drive.

No one was injured Wednesday night in a fire that broke out in Lemont's Rolling Meadows subdivision.

The responded shortly after 8 p.m. to a home in the 16500 block of Pasture Drive, where a dryer had started on fire.

Lemont Fire Prevention Director Jeff Hawthorne said a smoke detector activation alerted a family member who was upstairs to quickly call 911.

"It was a great job by the firefighters to get in and quickly extinguish this fire that would have otherwise spread rapidly and potentially caused much more damage to the family home," Hawthorne said in an email.

Battalion Chief Jim Sheldon, the incident commander in charge, said he was proud of his crew.

“Thanks to their aggressive and yet safe actions they were able to contain the fire to the laundry room," he said.
