No Injuries in Freehauf Street Fire

The Lemont Fire Protection District responded to a small porch fire in the 300 block of Freehauf Street on Thursday.

Discarded smoking materials are believed to have caused a small porch fire in Lemont on Thursday, fire officials said.

The responded around 6:50 p.m. to a reported house fire in the 300 block of Freehauf Street.

Deputy Fire Chief Jay Nickleski said firefighters noticed smoke coming from the rear of the residence when they arrived at the scene. A small fire on the porch was extinguished quickly and no one was injured.

The probable cause of the fire was determined to be discarded smoking materials, Nickleski said.
