Lemont Police Release Results of Fourth of July Crackdown

Police charged one person with DUI and 31 others with failure to wear a seat belt during its Fourth of July Click it or Ticket and Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign enforcement.

The made one DUI arrest and issued 31 seat belt citations during the Fourth of July traffic enforcement crackdown.

The mobilization, which ran June 22 through July 4, was part of a national mobilization of law enforcement agencies and highway safety advocates. 

The campaign featured two daytime and two nighttime safety belt enforcement zones, as well as a roadside safety check.

Extra emphasis was given to late­ night hours, as statistics show the highest number of motorists drink and drive and the fewest motorists buckle up during this time of day.

This law enforcement crackdown was funded by federal traffic safety grants through the Illinois Department of Transportation's Division of Traffic Safety and was part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.

  • Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle: 1
  • Possession of Marijuana: 2
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: 1
  • Defective Rear License Plate Light: 1
  • No Front License Plate: 1
  • Vehicle Tow Impounds: 4
  • Driver's License Confiscated Due to Active Suspension: 1

The Lemont Police receives additional federal funding through the Division of Traffic Safety for Commercial Motor Vehicle speed law enforcement.
