Lemont Police Issue Nearly 300 Citations During 'Click It or Ticket' Campaign

The department ticketed 220 motorists for not wearing their seat belts during last month's enforcement mobilization.

Nearly 300 citations were issued by the last month during the Memorial Day "Click It or Ticket" campaign.

During the mobilization, which ran May 1-30, Lemont police issued 294 total citations and made 13 arrests, according to Sgt. Joseph Miller.

Citations and arrests were as follows:

  • Seat belt citations: 220
  • Child restraint citations: 4
  • DUI arrests: 4
  • Drug arrests: 9
  • Speeding citations: 7
  • Uninsured motorists: 7
  • Fugitives apprehended: 1
  • Other citations: 42

The "Click It or Ticket" mobilization is led by the Illinois Department of Transportation's Division of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. During the campaign, Lemont police and other state and local law enforcement agencies joined forces to feature high-visibility enforcement and outreach activities to encourage motorists to "buckle up and save more lives."
