Lemont Police Charge Romeoville Woman with Prostitution

Undercover operation leads to arrest Wednesday of Sheila A. Gibson in the 12200 block of Archer Avenue.

A 39-year-old Romeoville woman was arrested at a Lemont motel around noon Wednesday after police discovered an online advertisement for prostitution.

Sheila A. Gibson, of the 300 block of Emery Avenue, was charged with prostitution—a Class A misdemeanor—after an incident in the 12200 block of Archer Ave., said Lemont Police Cmdr. Dan Tully.

She is free after posting a $150 of a $1,500 bond, he said.

During the sting, five women allegedly offered to perform sex acts through postings on Backpage.com, the Herald News reports.

Undercover police officers contacted the women, who agreed to meet with them in in hotels or motels in Naperville, the report said.

According to a spokesperson for the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, Gibson is up for a status hearing Tuesday for the attempted prostitution charge.
