Lemont Police Charge Man with Molestation of a Minor

Chicago resident Elliot Garcia, 39, was charged June 15 with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, police say.

A 39-year-old man remains in Cook County jail after being arrested by Lemont police and charged with sexually abusing a teenager in the village.

Elliot Garcia, of 1153 W. 18th St. in Chicago, was charged June 15 with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, Lemont Police Cmdr. Dan Tully said.

The victim, who is younger than 18, filed a report with police in Lemont, where officers say the alleged abuse occurred. The Lemont Police Department conducted an investigation before the arrest, Tully said.

Aggravated criminal sexual abuse is a Class 2 felony that carries a sentence of three to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, as well as a possible $25,000 fine.

Garcia is being held on a $250,000 bail. His next court date is scheduled for Tuesday in Bridgeview.
