Lemont Police Arrest Men Linked to Multiple Burglaries

William S. Nixon, Cain R. Woodrum and a juvenile—all from Homer Glen—were charged Thursday with numerous counts of burglary to a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property.

Three Homer Glen residents were charged with numerous counts of burglary after Lemont police caught them breaking into cars Thursday morning, authorities said.

Around 3:42 a.m. Thursday, police approached a suspicious vehicle near Cambridge Drive and Oxford Court in the Kensington subdivision. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle's occupants—two men and a juvenile—were burglarizing vehicles in the area and possessed numerous items from other burglaries in New Lenox, Homer Glen and the Palos area, police said.

The men were identified as William S. Nixon, of the 15000 block of Sunset Court in Homer Glen, and Cain R. Woodrum, of the 13700 block of Deer Valley Drive. The name of the juvenile was not released.

All three were charged with numerous counts of burglary to a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property, police said.

“The Lemont police are continuing to work with the other police agencies to bring a resolution to the crimes that have been committed,” Lemont Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy said in a press release. “I commend the officers for their attention to duty in the prompt apprehension of three offenders. ”
