Lemont Fire Celebrates Promotion of Longtime Firefighter

Firefighter Richard Moses was sworn into the role of lieutenant during a Dec. 19 board meeting.

The Lemont Fire Protection District Thursday shined a spotlight on longtime firefighter Richard Moses, as he was sworn into his new role of lieutenant.

Moses's wife, sons and parents were present for the honor, which included a brief swearing-in ceremony led by Trustee Rev. Glenn Bergmark, a pinning of the badge—and cake for all.

"We're really proud of him," said wife Jen. "He has worked really hard to get here."

Moses started with the district in 2000. He officially transitions into his new role Jan. 1.

"I'm excited for the rank, the new position," he said. "I'm excited to start my new career at station 4."
