Hinsdale South Releases Statement on Graduate's Shooting

Joshua Holmes, 18, was a Hinsdale South graduate who was the victim of a drive-by shooting Monday night in unincorporated Willowbrook.

The principal at Hinsdale South released a statement Tuesday afternoon on the shooting of a former student Monday night.

Joshua Holmes, 18, was shot in the area of Honeysuckle Rose Lane and Lilac Lane Monday night in unincorporated Willowbrook.

 At 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Hinsdale South Principal Brian Waterman sent a statement to parents informing them of the incident.

"As you are aware, approximately 250 Hinsdale South students live in the Hinsdale Lake Terrace community and may potentially be affected by this situation.  Please be assured that all of the support services available at Hinsdale South, including guidance and social work, have been made available to all Hinsdale South students in this time of need.  If your child(ren) is in need of social and/or emotional support services, please do not hesitate to contact Hinsdale South High School at (630) 468-4000. On behalf of Hinsdale South, we would like to offer our sincere condolences and thoughts to Joshua’s family and friends," said Waterman in the statement.

Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating leads and say it appears that Holmes was targeted, and there is no information to indicate that the community is in danger.
