Drug Education Program Now Available for Lemont Youth

The Lemont Police Department is offering a drug education program. Youths ages 11 to 17 can participate.

The Lemont Police Department invites younger residents and their parents to participate in a drug education program, open for residents ages 11 to 17.

The two-day class offers Lemont youth an opportunity to learn the harm and effect of drugs and alcohol. A parent or legal guardian is required to attend the course with their child, on the second day.

"We at the Lemont Police Department feel this is a great opportunity to deter your child(ren) from using any of these items," according to a release from the department.

The course costs $50 per child. Classes are from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The schedule can vary, and parents are encouraged to call for updated information. Classes are held at the Lemont Police Department, 14600 127th St. Officers will cover the risks of drug use, including the likelihood of addiction, drinking to inebriation, impaired judgment, academic setbacks, mood-related drug abuse, impacts on relationships, and impact on like skills.

Parents interested in enrolling their children should email dbode@lemont.il.us. Payment is accepted on the first day of attendance.
