ORLAND PARK -

A Cook County judge allowed prosecutors to submit evidence that he says establishes a pattern of escalation in the criminal sexual abuse case of 35-year-old Kevin Skaritka. The defense argued the information, which Skaritka has denied, is prejudicial. Skaritka of Orland Park is charged with six counts of criminal sexual assault, six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and two counts of criminal sexual abuse and is accused of molesting his girlfriend’s teenage daughter and exposing himself to her between 2009 and May 2011.

His trial has been set for Sept. 4.

PALOS —

John Farano, 50, of Palos Park faces nine years in prison and was ordered to forfeit more than $2.3 million and pay out $1.3 million in restitution for his role in the scam involving more than 40 homes in Englewood.

PALOS —

Joseph Campione, 45, of Palos Hills, pleaded guilty to felony theft and as part of a plea agreement received 24 months of probation. Crestwood police said he ran out of a convenience store in the 13600 block of Cicero Avenue on Dec. 5, 2011, with a jar of money that was intended to help a 27-year-old Alsip woman pay her medical bills for cancer treatment.

TINLEY PARK —

In yet another twist to the animal cruelty case where a , defense attorney Purav Bhatt said he is looking into the relationship between the and the director of the Animal Welfare League.

Bhatt said he subpoenaed the Animal Welfare League employment records for , whose photographs and documentation of a  as a Cook County investigator helped to secure more than 30 charges related to animal cruelty and neglect against owner Dawn Hamill.

TINLEY PARK —

The case of Michael Kroll, 24, an Orland Park man who is accused of carjacking an elderly woman in Tinley Park in November of 2011, has been continued. Kroll is scheduled to be back in court on Aug. 17. His defense attorney did not return calls seeking comment about the continuance.

TINLEY PARK — Court Date Mix-up for

A Mokena man facing battery charges for allegedly sending a Tinley Park restaurant manager to the hospital with broken ribs and a collapsed lung on March 18 faces was scheduled to appear in court on July 12, according to court records. But the state's attorney's office said Donovan Campbell, 42, and his attorney were actually supposed to be back in court on July 17.

Defense attorneys for New Lenox man Joseph Messina are bidding to have a mistrial declared in the case of a tragic bar fight because the police can't find a photo of the defendant's fist. Messina is charged with punching Joliet resident Eric Bartels into a coma in 2009.
