Bomb Threat Prompts Soft Lockdown at Old Quarry
A bomb threat found on a bathroom wall led to a soft lockdown Wednesday morning, according to an email from Principal William Caron.
A bomb threat written on the wall of a girls' bathroom at Old Quarry Middle School caused a soft lockdown Wednesday morning, according to a notice sent to parents.
The soft lockdown was issued from 10 to 10:45 a.m. shortly after a student reported to a teacher that she found the threat. Administrators notified the police department, and checked the building for any suspicious or out of place items.
A soft lockdown keeps all students in class while available staff does a check of the halls and campus.
"Nothing out of the ordinary was found in or around the building and we resumed normal activities at 10:45 after consultation with the police department," according to a notice from Principal William Caron.
No classroom activities were disrupted, according to the notice.
"We continue to work with the police department, interview students who may have information, and will keep our parents/guardians, students, and staff informed of any further action which may need to be taken," the email reads.
"I would ask that you speak to your children about the seriousness of this situation and any threat to the safety and well-being of our students and staff."
The situation was isolated to Old Quarry Middle School and did not affect Oakwood or River Valley Schools.
"Our students and staff responded appropriately to this situation and we will continue to put the safety of all the Old Quarry Middle School students and staff in the forefront of our actions."
