Aviation Fuel Leak Closes Cal Sag Road

'Major repairs' are underway on a line that burst early Monday morning in Palos Park.

Palos Park Police Chief Joe Miller said an aviation fuel line along Cal Sag Road shut down automatically when it started to leak early Monday morning.

Crews were working to repair the leak Monday. About three miles of Cal Sag Road (Route 38), from Southwest Highway to Route 45, could be closed until Wednesday morning, Miller said. Fumes from the fuel have dissipated and remediation workers are cleaning up the leaked fuel.

"The remediation people will have to go through all that to see what has been impacted," Miller said.
