The NBA and the Immediate Future

A look at the future of the NBA.

You would think that the Chicago Bulls would have a legitimate chance at taking it all in 2011-12. But as of now, nobody has a legitimate chance at taking it all this year.

At midnight EST on July 1, 2011, the NBA entered its first lockout since 1998-99. At the time, it was heavily overshadowed by the NFL lockout that was in effect at the time, therefore many questioned if it would last.

Yet here we are in November, and many games have been cancelled. It seems it's the result of the conflicts in the league, the disagreements and the players wanting more. While talks have been attempted to be scheduled since, the season is in extreme jeopardy should this continue.

If the NBA takes a rest this year, it could lead to a more effective, organized league in 2012-13. Whatever may happen, we shall see a stronger NBA when it returns.
