Lemont Patch Editor Bids Farewell—Again

Tuesday marks my last day at Patch, and I couldn't leave without thanking all of you.

For those of you who read the headline and thought you were experiencing déjà vu, you aren't alone.

It was just over a year ago that I sat at this very laptop and said farewell to Lemont Patch, the site I launched way back in September 2010. I had no idea I would be back seven months later or that I would be forced to issue a second goodbye to the town I've come to love so much.

Tuesday is my last day at Patch and the end of a really special chapter in my life. I started this job right out of college, and now I'm leaving to take on the world—literally.

As some of you know, my boyfriend and I got engaged earlier this year, right around the time I came back to Lemont. We're getting married next month and will be heading to China, where he has been working since March. We'll be living overseas for the foreseeable future.

To say I'm scared about this new adventure would be an understatement, but I'm also incredibly excited to travel the world with my new husband. It's the opportunity of a lifetime, and we both feel very blessed.

So even though it's strange for me to be saying goodbye to this site yet again, I am grateful to have one more chance to tell you all how wonderful these past three years have been and how much I've enjoyed telling your stories. Lemont has become like a second home to me, and I can't tell you how much I'm going to miss seeing you all around town.

Thank you so much for letting me become part of your little community. I've learned so much and have met some of the most incredible people. When I look back at my first job, that's what I'll remember.

All the best,
Amanda
