OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION

I am writing this letter as a member of our family of faith in hopes of fostering the unity of faith and devotion to Our Beloved Mother Mary Mother of God. My appeal is directed to my neighboring local community of Lemont.  I have been in contact with Saint Alphonsus Church since June 21, 2013 in regards to the statue depicting Our Lady of the Assumption which has been placed in there side yard.  My concern is heart felt in that this once beautiful status that offered devotion within the sanctuary of Saint Patrick Catholic Church also in Lemont was removed from the Church and found it's way to storage at Saint Alphonsus. In my thoughts and from what I was told by a Saint Patrick member was that the statue of Our Lady of the Assumption and the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus were removed from Saint Patrick's around 1993 time frame.
My major concern is that this statue which was made to adorn a sanctuary has found its eventual demise in the elements of our brutal winter weather. This was a beautiful statue with glass eyes that belongs back in a setting for which it was designed. As we drive pass the Church the statue does not show all the ravages that one winter has taken so I appeal to all  my family of faith members to please stop view the statue and make an appeal to Saint Alphonsus to Honor Our Lady with respect restore her to her original beauty and remove from the elements. I live each day with total Consecration to Our Lady through devotions and by offering all that I have both body and soul and spiritually to Her by spreading Her love to others. May Our Lady show you and all the members of our community the love and truth Her Son offers to us all.
Christ peace,

"Consecration to the Mother of God," says Pope Pius XII, "is a total gift of self, for the whole of life and for all eternity; and a gift which is not a mere formality or sentimentality, but effectual, comprising the full intensity of the Christian life - Marian life." This consecration, the Pope explained, "tends essentially to union with Jesus, under the guidance of Mary."
