Lemont High School negligence

The negligent maintenance of the high school property caused my home to flood. Now the high school is choosing to ignore the facts and witness statements and forcing me to hire an attorney to take them to court. What a great example of the high school showing respect to the surrounding community.

That's a good point, Art. Silly me for thinking they'd take responsibility for their actions. Maybe if they were the ones without heat and hot water in the middle of March and in the hole over $10,000 in damages they would feel differently.

How did LHS cause your property to flood? Don't you have insurance?

Buster- when all of the snow melted in March off of the high school field it had nowhere to go but onto my property due to the high school's clogged drain (filled with leaves and debris from prior seasons). Instead of the water being routed to the retention pond via drain it went into my house due to the clogged drain. I hope this answers your question.

Good luck in court!

You would think the administrators would realize it's cheaper and better for them to have the drain cleared than to waste time causing a lawsuit. Clearing out their drain will help the school out with more than just making sure that it doesn't cause your property to flood. Best of luck!
