Funeral Services for Drowning Victim, 3-Year-Old Nathan Kackert
Nathan M. Kackert, 3, of Colorado Springs, CO., died July 7, while the family was visiting relatives.
The family of Nathan M. Kackert, 3, of Colorado Springs, CO, has arranged funeral services for the child, who drown July 7. Nathan's family was visiting for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Tragedy struck when the child wandered from home and drown in a next door neighbor's in-ground swimming pool in Homer Glen.
Nathan is the son of Shaun and Linda (nee Prohaska) Kackert and brother to 7-month-old Ryan Kackert. He is also survived by grandparents Thomas and Jamie Prohaska and Donald and Crystal Kackert, of Homer Glen.
Visitation is scheduled from 3-9 p.m. July 11 at Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 9000 W. 151st. St., Orland Park. Funeral services are planned to begin at 9:15 a.m. July 12 at the funeral home and will continue with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 9300 W. 167th St., Orland Hills.
Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mulliganeers, 612 72nd Court, Downers Grove. The Mulliganeers is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for children and families in need.

Nathan's grandfather, Don Kackert, said in a July 10 email, "Hopefully, Nathan’s story inspires people to be more diligent with the security aspect of their swimming pools and the safety of their children. If so, something worthwhile has come from this sad event."
