The second annual event will include a scarecrow building contest, deejay, children's games, costume contest, hayrides, snacks and kid's straw maze.

Leaves are falling, temperatures are cooling and to help usher in the autumn season, this weekend the will host its second annual Fall Fest.

“It’s going to be great,” said Carrie Dellamano, marketing coordinator for the Lemont Park District. “Everybody should come and join in the fun.”

The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, at the, 16028 W. 127th St. The event is slated to be held outside, but if the weather doesn’t cooperate park officials will move the festivities indoors to the , 16050 W. 127th St.

The free Fall Fest will include a scarecrow building contest, deejay, children's games and jumpie, a children's costume parade, hayrides, and a bonfire with hot dogs and s’mores. New to this year’s event will be a kid’s straw maze.

Dellamano said she can’t wait to see the children’s costumes.

“There was a washing machine last year,” she said. “That was really cute.”

About 200 families attended the inaugural Fall Fest, which was sponsored by Patch.

Park officials hope the weather holds up during this year’s event. Last year's Fall Fest had to be moved indoors after a day of rainy weather.

"Hopefully this will be our first one outside," Dellamano said.

She encourages the community to come out and enjoy the event.

“It’s going to be fantastic,” she said.
