You're Invited: Share a Holiday Memory

Enjoying the holidays is all about taking time to create memories by sharing traditions that you love...

Of all the holidays we celebrate, it is this time of the year when we should indulge ourselves with tradition!

Traditions are the links to the creation of memories. Whether established a year ago or through generations, these gestures keep us together.

For most of us the holiday season begins with our Thanksgiving celebration. Holiday decoration is often assembled and displayed soon after. The rush for the "perfect gift" for family and friends fills the shopping days 'til Christmas.

My own Christmas traditions always incorporate homemade things—from creating garlands and topiaries to embellishing my windows and doors to thoughtfully wrapping each gift to be displayed under the tree.

When my children were young, until a few short years ago, together we would select and cut a fresh tree for display in our home. The scent of a fresh balsam or fir would evoke its own memory of a cold, winter forest. On a few occasions, we would plan a get-away up to Michigan, visit a ski resort or toboggan site and return home with our Christmas tree in tow.

Even when my children were older, enjoying these winter activities would bring memories of "finding the perfect tree." Within our own community, holiday events are planned to share, create and cherish traditions!
