Have You Ever Seen an Albino Deer?

A reader spotted this beautiful (and incredibly rare) albino deer in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

Patch reader Terri DeVos Modrak shared this stunning photo of an albino deer, spotted in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

Albino deer are extremely rare: only 1 born in every 100,000 deer, according to Buckmaster.com. Chances of seeing one in the wild are very low—you might have a better chance of finding that needle in a haystack.

Others say the chances of an albino deer being born are about 1 in 20,000, according to John Bates, Wisconsin Northwoods naturalist and co-author of White Deer: Ghosts of the Forest. A group of conservationists (non-hunters and hunters, alike) has set out to save the rare-colored deer. Find out more about their plight.

Have you ever seen such rare wildlife? How about wildlife frolicking in freshly fallen snow?
