Help Lemont Township Food Pantry with 'Just One' Item

'Just One' program designed to restock pantry shelves with nonperishable food items and other necessities. Through the end of January, the township welcomes donations of canned meat to the Lemont Township Food Pantry.

The shelves of the Lemont Township Food Pantry might be well-stocked with certain items, but others, it's sorely lacking.

With the "Just One" program, each month the Township welcomes donations of "just one" specific item needed to replenish its supplies. The township's Terri O'Neill-Borders seeks donations of canned meat (chicken or roast beef) through the end of January.

The program encourages all who can to purchase, at the minimum "just one" of the items on the list that month. By highlighting one item each month, O'Neill-Borders hopes to stock the less common nonperishables and necessities. There is a currently a surplus of common items such as canned veggies, canned tuna fish, canned soups, jelly, macaroni and cheese, and pork and beans.

The donations are stored in one of two Lemont Township's food pantries, which at-need families visit once a month.

Donations can be dropped off the Lemont Township Office, Lemont Police Department lobby, Lemont Starbucks, US Bank, and Pawz and Klawz Pet Salon.

Anyone with questions about the "Just One" program or monthly donation guidelines, should contact O-Neill-Borders at terri-oneill@lemonttownship.org.
