Radogno/Durkin Host Senior Health Fair 2013

State Senator Christine Radogno (R-Lemont) and State Representative Jim Durkin (Western Springs) are hosting a Free Senior Health Fair on Wednesday, October 9th in Lemont.

“Seniors and their families are invited to our annual Health Fair 2013.  It’s a great opportunity to gather information about programs and services available to seniors.  We will also offer free blood sugar, blood pressure and grip strength screenings, balance assessments and thermal posture evaluations,” said Durkin.  “I hope to see you there.”

The event will be held on Wednesday, October 9th from 9 a.m. till noon at the Lemont Park District – CORE Fitness Center, 16028 127th Street in Lemont.

Flu shots will be available for free for those with Medicare B and $31.99 for those without.  Seniors may also get a photo identification taken. Information will be available about fire safety, healthy eating, assisted living, transportation, saving on your phone bill, Alzheimer’s disease, veterans assistance, reading programs and other state and local services.

“If you are a senior citizen, or someone helping an elderly parent, relative or friend, this is a forum where you can reach out to approximately 50 representatives and vendors who are knowledgeable about many of the issues and concerns that frequently impact the senior community,” said Senator Radogno.  “We will also have on site a supersized shredder, so bring any unwanted documents you would like to have destroyed.  It’s a great way to protect against identity theft.  We will also have plenty of free refreshments.”
