2014 Children's Safety Expo

State Senator Christine Radogno (R-Lemont) is teaming up with State Representatives Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs) and Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) to host a FREE Children’s Safety Expo on Saturday, June 7 from 9 a.m. to noon at Lakeview Jr. High School, 701 Plainfield Road in Downers Grove, IL.

"This is always a fun event. The kids have a great time, while their parents are given access to a ton of information from participants—everything from college savings programs to safety awareness," Radogno said. "I look forward to once again partnering up with Representatives Durkin and Sandack for what I anticipate will be another successful Children’s Safety Expo."

"Our Children’s Safety Expo is fun for kids while providing important information to parents," said Durkin. "Kids love the ‘Touch a Truck’ exhibit, karate demonstrations, and visiting with reptiles. Parents come out and gather some information about college savings programs and tips to keep your children safe. I encourage all area families to come out and spent the morning with us."

"This expo promises to be a lot of fun for kids of all ages," said Sandack. "In addition to the 45 booths at the event, children and their families can see the LIFESTAR Chicago Helicopter at 9:30 and enjoy the Traveling World of Reptiles Show at 10:30."

The lawmakers emphasized that admission is free and complimentary refreshments will be provided. There will be a drawing for giveaways, and face painting will be available. The Traveling World of Reptiles Show will once again be at the event, beginning at 10:30 am, as well as approximately 20 vehicles as part of the "Touch a Truck" exhibit—including the LIFESTAR Chicago helicopter at 9:30 a.m. Kids are invited to see, touch and get behind the wheel of their favorite vehicle, and local professionals will be available to answer questions about the equipment and the work they do.
