A jury found former former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich , including trying to sell or trade the Senate seat vacated by President Barack Obama.

Blagojevich, who had faced 20 corruption charges in his retrial, was convicted on 11 Senate seat charges, according to the Huffington Post. He was also found guilty of attempting to shake down executives for campaign donations.

The verdicts were delivered after nine days of deliberation. The jury acquitted Blagojevich on one county of bribery and deadlocked on two counts of  attempted extortion.

  • Eric Lozano: good for him, you get what u deserve!
  • Jill Pampinella McAndrews: Gotta believe in karma.
  • Paul Chialdikas: It doesnt surprise me. Honesty and integrity has left Illinois politics and we as taxpayers need to work harder to elect officials that can be held accountable and respectable to our hard earned tax dollars.
  • Kevin Murphy: YES.. His stained panties will soon be on Ebay, he needs some $$ ya know. Lets guess how much someone will pay...
  • Anne Madden: I am glad he will be held accountable and that IL politicians may think twice before engaging in such behavior. I do feel bad for his kids, though, but seeing that he's such a poor role model for them, maybe the best thing for them is to see their dad go to prison. Too bad we ALL had to go through this!
  • John Ekkert: I wouldn't limit it to Illinois politics. It's another example of the sad state of affairs when we are subjected and or limited to a two party system. I believe campaign finance reform is the only viable option...it sure beats choosing between the lesser of two evils or making our decisions based on what msnbc or faux (fox) news leads us to believe is the right man (or woman) for the job.
  • Carolyn Gregory Ekkert: Seeing that our last two governors will be in prison together, I think it is safe to say it is just the way the game is played and they got caught. Reform is needed all around.
  • Dwayne Wojtowicz: It is time to remove everyone from office and start afresh. We, as a state, have become the laughing stock of this country. Politicians beware! It is time to clean house!

  • Fred Ehringer: He's only Guilty of being an idiot !!!!! The Guy is guilty and did even make any money at it. (Romeoville)
  • Judy Liston Gross: His sarcasm only gets him in trouble when his brain-to-mouth filter is malfunctioning...which seems to be most of the time! I too believed he was guilty. Politics is a generator of arrogance and pride. And he got a double dose! (Romeoville)
  • Suzanne Flynn: Very happy to hear this! He over used his powers and maybe this will help politicians realize they can't say things like he did and "be just kidding". Everything you say when you are elected into an office means something....so watch your mouth. Good rid-dens to Blago! But now how long until he's thrown in jail and we have to listen to news about his appeal? (Woodridge)
  • Peter William: effin' golden lol! (Woodridge)
