Monday, June 4

Chief Kevin Shaughnessy, Mayor Brian Reaves and two local principals were exiled to the roof Friday as part of the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraiser.

The 2012 market runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning June 5, in the Talcott Square parking lot at Stephen and Talcott streets.

Tuesday, June 5

Local residents and Lemont Park District officials commemorated the park's grand opening with a short ceremony Thursday.

Woodridge Enterprises, Inc. was cited by the U.S. Department of Labor for lack of fall protection at job sites in Hinsdale and Carol Stream.

Wednesday, June 6

Lisle police pursued the vehicle through Downers Grove. Will County sheriff deputies found the van abandoned near Lemont Wednesday afternoon, but a search for the three suspects continues.

Temporary changes will be in effect June 6-13 as the library prepares to implement its new card catalog through the Pinnacle Library Cooperative.

The market will run every Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Talcott Square.

"Three Happy Hours" will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, June 15.

Thursday, June 7

Cook County officials announced that 1.8 million second-installment property tax bills will be mailed on time first time since 1978—a move that could save municipalities and school districts millions.

The Lemont Area Historical Society, 306 Lemont St., recently opened a new exhibit featuring Girl Scout photos, uniforms, dolls and other artifacts.

The popular WGN/CLTV show was scheduled to film at the Lemont restaurant Thursday afternoon for the "Best Burgers" episode.

The 16-year-old Lemont High School student will compete June 7-10 at the 2012 Visa Championships after finishing third at the Junior Olympic National Championships in May.

Friday, June 8

Mindflow Cafe will open next month in the former location of This Must Be the Place.

Monica Furczon, a 2012 graduate of Lemont High School, recently created a painting of the downtown mural and several historic building that is now on display at the Lemont Area Historical Society.

Students got a lesson in bike safety in April as they raised funds for the 20th annual Tike-a-Thon for St. Jude.
