Week in Review, Jan. 30 - Feb. 6: Snowpocalypse, Lemont Cheerleaders Make History

  • Last week was one for the history books as the third biggest blizzard to ever hit Chicago dumped more than a foot of snow on the area.   • Janet Hughes, a current member of the District 113A Board of Education, Monday to become a write-in candidate for the April 5 consolidated election. Though she originally filed a nominating petition in December, she was removed from the ballot Jan. 4 after the District 113A Electoral Board upheld two objections claiming Hughes failed to properly bind her documents.
  • The Lemont Police Department with strategic security firm Hillard Heintze, whose consultants will analyze current policies and operations in order to enhance the department's effectiveness and cost efficiency.
  • District 113A officials announced the formation of a , which will draft spending policies for a proposed $20 million working cash bond referendum. The committee, which was organized by District 113A Board President Lisa Wright, was formed to ensure financial accountability, district officials said.
  • Mayor Brian Reaves formally announced dates for an — both of which will be devoted to discussing the state of public education in Lemont.
