The District 113A Board of Education voted during its regular board meeting Monday to move forward with securing another $6.1 million in tax anticipation warrants. The district will be unable to meet its payroll obligations in July without another round of short-term borrowing.

The Lemont Lions Club hosted its annual spring dinner Sunday, April 17, at the Lemont Township Community Center.

The Lemont Village Board discussed the progress of two housing developments — Glen Oaks and Krystyna Crossing — during its committe off the whole meeting Monday.

Wednesday, April 20

This week's Whiz Kids were the members of the Old Quarry Scholastic Bowl team, which recently won its conference tournament.

Several Old Quarry Middle School students participated in the Chicago Regional Science Bowl, which included both an academic and model fuel cell car competition. The events were co-sponsored by Argonne National Laboratory and the Department of Energy.

Thursday, April 21

Central School Principal Gina Rodewald formally submitted her resignation for the 2011-2012 school year. She will head to Gower School District 62 where she will be the new principal of Gower West Elementary School.

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn emphasized the importance of alternative fuel research during a visit to Argonne National Laboratory on Wednesday for Earth Week.

Friday, April 22

The Lemont Police Department and Lemont Fire Protection District responded Friday afternoon to a call from a resident who claimed to have seen a possibly body floating in the Illinois and Michigan Canal near downtown Lemont. The "body," however, turned out to nothing more than a pair of coveralls with mannequin arms attached — "a sick practical joke," officials said.
