Water Main Break Causes Flooding on Warner Avenue

Lemont Public Works has been on the scene near Warner and Weimer avenues since early Thursday morning.

A water main break near Warner and Weimer avenues caused flooding throughout the area Thursday morning.

Lemont Public Works responded around 5:30 a.m. to the broken pipe, which caused substantial flooding along Warner Avenue, right off State Street. Village Administrator Ben Wehmeier told Patch shortly before 9 a.m. that crews had stopped the leak, but were still working to clean up the water.

"The latest update from (Public Works Director) Ralph Pukula is that they have the main under control, but it did cause a bit of a mess out there," Wehmeier said.
