UPDATE: Storms Bring High Winds, Minor Damage

Lemont officials report minimal damage from the severe thunderstorms that hit the area Tuesday night.

UPDATE: Despite being hit with brief power outages, the Lemont area sustained fairly minor damage from a line of severe thunderstorms Tuesday night, police and fire officials said.

Tornado sirens rang across the village as quick-moving storms brought heavy rains and winds in excess of 60 mph, according to Lemont Fire Chief Carl Churulo.

Lemont Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy said power outages were "sporadic," and that a lot of small tree limbs and branches fell during the storm. Few areas were flooded, and no large trees were reported.
